Here are some great films that you have not seen yet because they haven’t been released. But there are a few great projects that you might be looking forward to seeing.

It:Chapter 2
the first half of this story was very boring and maybe if they made one film they could have made one picture that people would have liked better. Still it’s on of Steven Kings most loved novels featuring our favorite evil clown Penny Wise. Andres Muschietti returns to help the second chapter. Horror fans loved the job he did with Mama. Maybe he has a few tricks up his sleeve. Ironically rotten tomatoes gives Mama just 65% and It gets 85%. Release Date September 6, 2019. See the trailer for Chapter 2 bellow.

Ad Astra

It seems like a rare thing that a filmmaker we don’t know much about gets to helm a big budget science fiction project that isn’t part of an existing franchise but this is a Fox release and they have a long history turning great science fiction movies into properties such as Aliens and Star Wars. Now that Fox is owned by Disney you have to wonder if this project ever would have happened under current studio conditions. This movie was not even based on a famous best selling novel the two screen writers wrote it as a spec scripts.  The budget is listed as being under $50 million dollars which seems strangely low for a science fiction picture. The release date for the film has been pushed back twice which generally isn’t a good sign. Having Brad Pitt as the lead gives us some level of comfort after he executive produced and stared in World War Z. He is attached as a producer on this project and we haven’t heard of expensive reshoots or any crazy stories. Here is hoping it’s a good film.

Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of humans on Earth. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

Sounds great at least check out the trailer below.

The Ad Astra release date is shared with two other interesting projects.

The film sequel to Downton Abbey and the Rambo sequel.  But did we really want another Rambo movie after all these years. Sylvester Stallone is pretty old these days toping in at 73 years old. Great gramps how strong are you now?

October brings us Joaquin Phoenix playing the Joker. Warner Brothers has a checked history of making comic book movies. We will keep our fingers crossed. There is also an Adams Family film project pre-halloween and Zombieland 2 sequel to get us in the holiday spirit.

Terminator: Dark Fate
Frozen 2

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Let’s be honest the fall is usually full of Oscar quality films and as soon as we watch them or hear a buzz we will post an update of Must See Fall Films AKA Oscar Contenders.

Our guess is that 1917 coming out at the end of the year and last film listed on the release schedule for 2019 is one that gets out attention. It’s about World War 1 and the filmmaker is Sam Mendes the Oscar winner of American Beauty. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch another guy who pops up in Oscar quality films. Best of all it’s an Amblin production and when Stephen Spielberg is behind war pictures they are usually amazing. AKA Saving Private Ryan.
